Local TV News Notes

Here's some notes about local Capital Region news channels

Carey's Leaving:

WRGB morning co-anchor Carey Proctor will be leaving CBS 6 next Friday, August 4; according to a recent "Carey's Corner". In it she talks about why she is leaving channel 6. She says she wants to be closer to her family and work in the "more entertainment side of news". She will be heading to the west coast. Carey's Corner will continue online at this Youtube page. A search for her replacement is on.

Diane Lee back on Capital Region TV:
She use to co-anchor the Fox 23 morning news, but was let go; now Diane Lee is reporting for WTEN along with some fill-in reporting. According to the WXXA Wikipeda page (not the best source, I know) she is freelancing at Channel 10. Too me, it seems that there could be a better spot for her talents, either at WTEN or another station, however it is good to see her back on Capital Region TV.

The New wten.com:
After being delayed a week the new wten.com, the website of the Albany ABC station, is up and running. And besides a new sleek design it's not that different from the old wten.com; however we will see how the site evolves over time. I would like to see live-streaming newscasts on the site, along with live breaking news events.

WRGB off the radio
According to a statement by the station's GM, WRGB is off the radio because:

We do not have FCC authorization to transmit an analog signal. We only have authorization for a digital signal at this time.

You can read the full statement on WRGB's website.
