Change is in the air

As fall arrives in the Capital Region so do some new TV shows, as well as some re-arrangement of our old favorites! I have already talked about primetime TV, so let's talk about daytime TV.

The Big Three
One of the most interesting changes coming to local daytime TV is, News 10 at 4. It will be followed by Inside Edition at 4:30. The Doctors is going to move to 9am -going up against Regis and Kelly on WRGB, and the 3rd hour of Today, on NewsChannel 13. The Doctors will be followed by The Bonnie Hunt Show at 10am.

WTEN's Daytime Lineup:
9am: The Doctors
10am: The Bonnie Hunt Show
11am: The View
Noon: News10 at Noon
12:30 Jeopardy!
1-4: Soap Operas
4pm: News10 at 4
4:30pm: Inside Edition
5pm-6:30pm News10

WRGB/CBS6's daytime lineup really isn't changing that much. The only change, coming on September 21st, will be 2 hours of The Price is Right from 10am - Noon. This is because Guiding Light was canceled. However, it has been rumored that 25,000 Pyramid , or another game show will replace that 10am hour of The Price is Right.

WRGB's Daytime Lineup:
9am: Live! With Regis & Kelly
10am: The Price is Right (Sept. 21st)
11am: The Price is Right
Noon: CBS6 News at Noon
12:30 -3pm: Soap Operas
4pm: Ellen
5pm-7:00pm CBS6 News

WNYT's Lineup is changing, some might say for the better, depending if you are a Dr. Oz Fan and because of this, Newschannel 13 Mid-Day is being cut 30 minutes and brought back to the "Live at Noon" format. Because of this game shows Deal or No Deal, and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire will air after Today at 11am. And Friends will air after the noon news.

WNYT's Daytime Lineup:
9am: Today Show, 3rd Hour
10am: Today Show, 4th Hour
11am: Deal or No Deal
11:30am: Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
Noon: NewsChannel 13 Live at Noon
12:30 Friends
1-2: Soap Opera
2pm: Dr. Oz
3pm: Rachel Ray
4pm: Oprah
5pm-6:30pm NewsChannel 13

Also, making news at WNYT is that current ‘Weekend Today’ anchor Jessica Layton will be co-anchoring the 11pm newscast with current solo anchor Jim Kambrich, according to a recent Facebook post:
Changes coming to NewsChannel 13 on 9/14. Midday returns to 12pm and Jessica Layton begins co-anchoring our 11pm news with Jim Kambrich.

WNYT says this about Weekend Today:
Weekend Today isn't going anywhere. Jessica will anchor this weekend. After that we'll have a series of fill-in anchors until we eventually settle on a permanent choice.

The Other Three
While Fox23 may have excellent newscasts their daytime lineup flat out sucks, and makes no sense.

Because ‘The M&J Show’ got canceled and Tyra moved to the CW, they were left with two hours to fill. I also just noticed, The Marta Stewart Show got moved to My4 Albany (more on that later). Here’s how Fox23 has decided to fill their empty slots:

After their weak two hours of morning news:
8am: Better
9am: Law & Order SVU
10am: Cold Case Files
11am: The People’s Court
Noon: Carmine's
12:30: Paid Programming
1-5: Various Court shows, including another ‘The People’s Court’
5pm: Fox23 News
Now, what FOX23 should do, is put more money into their local news so they can have 4 hours of news from 5-9 am, and a decent noon newscast, along with more then 30 minutes at five, perhaps a 6:30 or 7pm newscast would work. And who wants to watch shows like SVU, Cold Case Files’ and The People’s Court while they are waking up in the morning. Overall FOX23’s new lineup is a major disappointment.

The Capital Region’s CW now has 2 hours of Tyra, one hour of The Office, and is now the home to Earl and AFV, despite this there is two hours of Maury airing on the CW.
After CBS6 News on the Capital Region’s CW:
8am: Access Hollywood
8:30am: Extra
9am: Steve Wilkos Show
10am: Maury
11am: Jerry Springer
Noon: Maury
1pm: America’s Funniest Home Videos
2pm: two episodes of Scrubs
3pm: Best of The Tyra Banks Show
4pm: The Tyra Banks Show
5pm: The King of Queens
5:30pm: My Name Is Earl
6pm: Two and a Half Men
6:30: two episodes of The Office

The Martha Stewart Show (Noon) is moving to My4, as is Judge Jeanine Pirro (4pm). Family Feud (6pm) and Are you Smarter than a Fifth Grader (7pm) will also be seen on My4.
